Whether she’s called Sprite, Ariel, Shadowcat, or just goes by her real name, Kitty Pryde’s a great character. I love characters who’s powers can’t simply be measured in how much they can lift, or how much damage they can do— it makes for much more interesting stories.
The first time I saw Kitty was in the “Pride of the X-Men” cartoon when I was a kid, which was the first time I saw ANY of the X-Men, and I thought they were awesome. In the show, Wolverine is a complete dick to her, insisting that “just because you’re a mutant, doesn’t make you an X-Man!”
That was the seed of a long lifetime of hating Wolverine.
